Archives municipales et communautaires

FR : Le projet a pour objectif de donner à la Ville de Brumath un lieu pour le stockage, la gestion, et la consultation des archives municipales et communautaires mais aussi pour la conservation de ses œuvres d’art. Différents enjeux structurent la démarche politique et architecturale de ce projet, notamment représenter un signal fort à l’entrée de Brumath et souligner l’engagement de la Ville dans la mise en valeur de son passé et de celui de la Communauté de Communes de la Région de Brumath.

Les deux entités programmatiques, au fonctionnement indépendant, sont réunies dans une enveloppe sobre de béton matricé. Le brise-soleil de la façade sud, composé de panneaux verticaux de bois bakélisé dont les découpes réinterprètent le logo de la ville, vient animer la volumétrie simple du bâtiment.

L’ensemble a été conçu dans le souci de permettre, à long terme, l’extension du stockage des archives. La cour de service ménagée à l’arrière de la parcelle représente ainsi une réserve spatiale pouvant accueillir, si nécessaire, cette future extension.

A l’intérieur, un hall généreux dans lequel se projettent les ombres du brise soleil, guide le visiteur jusqu’à la salle de lecture. Cette dernière s’oriente vers le patio central qui permet à la fois de bénéficier d’une lumière filtrée et de créer une fluidité visuelle avec les espaces réservés au personnel. Ceux-ci consistent notamment en deux magasins dédiés au pré-archivage et aux archives historiques.

Pour des raisons techniques relatives à la manipulation des archives et des œuvres d’art, certains espaces peuvent être cloisonnés tout en conservant la fonctionnalité du projet.

UK : The objective of the project is to provide the Town of Brumath with a place for the storage, management and consultation of the municipal and community archives as well as for the conservation of its works of art. Various issues structure the political and architectural approach of this project, notably representing a strong signal at the entrance of Brumath and underlining the commitment of the Town in the enhancement of its past and that of the Community of Communes of the Brumath Region.

The two programmatic entities, which operate independently, are brought together in a sober envelope of concrete. The brise-soleil of the southern facade, composed of vertical panels of bakelized wood whose cut-outs reinterpret the city's logo, animates the simple volumetry of the building.

The complex was designed with the long-term aim of extending the storage of the archives. The service courtyard at the rear of the plot thus represents a spatial reserve that can accommodate, if necessary, this future extension.

Inside, a generous hall in which the shadows of the sun breeze are projected, guides the visitor to the reading room. The latter is oriented towards the central patio, which allows both filtered light and visual fluidity with the spaces reserved for staff. These include two stores dedicated to pre-archiving and historical archives.

For technical reasons relating to the handling of archives and works of art, some spaces can be partitioned while maintaining the functionality of the project.
